FAQ: What is Concrete Floor Sealing?
Concrete floor sealing is the process of preparing the concrete for use by sealing either with a building material, or, mechanically. While epoxy flooring and concrete polishing are the more common types of concrete floor sealing, this page is focused on other types of concrete floor sealing and maintenance. Using penetrating sealants, often acrylic based.
Types of Concrete Floor Sealing
As mentioned, excluding the more common Epoxy and Polished flooring; sealing concrete flooring is otherwise typically sealed with building materials such as lacqures or acrylics. Because acrylic mixes with other materials, such as concrete densifiers, are meaningfully better than other current product, it's the current standard for concrete floor sealing. Penetrating Sealants are the type of sealant, however there are two common ways to perform Prep & Seal flooring. **Side-note: in the past some spaces used 'waxes' and similar products to seal floors, they do not hold up well for this type of floor material so we don't advise it's use.
